A message from a fellow TCWatcher

A fellow TCWatcher sent us the following message:

OK -- this is important.

I've been a frequent critic of John McCain - - he's taken some dumb positions in my opinion (like on McCain-Feingold ).   And his absolute refusal to be "brought into line" for a necessary vote has infuriated me a few more times.

BUT - - this man is head, neck, shoulders, and (shall I go on?) above any other prospective  viable candidate for President.

I believe that it's not too extreme to state that America will make an existential choice this year.  We can decide that our life is hard and we'd like a lot of additional things for free;  or we can decide that we want this country - - whose political philosophy and economic engine have  fueled freedom and prosperity worldwide for a long time - - to continue to do just that for a while longer.

It's one thing to make a nice talk, have great political advisors, and raise plenty of campaign cash  - - -It's another entirely to show - - repeatedly - -  the kind of resolve, courage, and judgment that John McCain has shown on the issues that really matter.   And the one which matters the most is the protection of this nation and our entire culture against Islamic fanaticism.

I don't care about my life much anymore -- I've had a long, wonderful life already.   But I care a lot about my grandkids - -and about the generations to come.

I badly want America to be the shining city on a hill that Reagan saw so clearly - - and that the world needs and appreciates much more than it will ever admit.

This clip is long (12 minutes), but it's well worth watching - - even for those who know McCain's  story, but especially for those who may not.
